Yes!
To unlock the eSIM, you will need to unlock the main IMEI of the iPhone.
Why? Because the iPhone's baseband, which is the antenna software that allows you to use a different carrier than the original one it was purchased with, may be locked or associated with the original carrier.
How to do it?
If you've already unlocked the main IMEI, we recommend checking that the eSIM is also unlocked. You can do this by inserting a SIM card from a different carrier than the original one. If it's not unlocked, follow these steps:
- Access the settings of your iPhone, you'll see that your device has two IMEI numbers.
- Your iPhone's IMEI is the one that appears with the description "primary". In this section, you'll see details like Network, Carrier, IMEI, ICCID, MEID. Remember that this will show the operator of the SIM card inserted in your iPhone, not the original carrier of the device. If you're unsure, you can check it with our Original Carrier Check.
- Further down, you'll see the text "SECOND SIM", in this section no further details are shown. This is the IMEI of the eSIM.
- Request your unlock at doctorSIM, indicating the IMEI of the eSIM you just obtained. You can do it at the following link:
